The Studio
Founded on the idea that a home should reflect the people who live in it.
Star Pierce Design was established in Marin County in 2000 with a single conviction: beauty is an essential state, not a style to apply. Every project begins with listening. Who is the client? How do they live? What do they want their home to say? We then consider the architecture, the site and the light.
The studio brings together interior design, a global network of master craftspeople, and disciplined management of every dimension of the process — creative and financial. We work closely with architects early in the process, ensuring the interior vision is never an afterthought.
The studio takes on a limited number of projects at any one time. This is deliberate. Every project receives the team's full attention, from the first conversation to the final detail. Built entirely around a home’s inhabitants, rather than the latest trend, the result is timeless.

How we got here.
Before the studio, the shop
Star opens Brava Strada in Pacific Heights, designing the space herself and building its adobe walls by hand. As proprietor, buyer, and interior designer, she hones her eye for beauty in classical and unconventional objects, spaces, and environments. The sourcing relationships and the voice of Star Pierce Design both begin here.
2000
The practice begins
Star's first client doesn't find her through a portfolio. They find her through a space she created and they ask her to do the same for their home. Star Pierce Design is established in Marin County in 2000. The practice begins the way it continues: through the work itself.
2015
Designed to work from anywhere
Alfred Pierce joins Star Pierce Design, building a location-independent practice, creating the infrastructure to work with clients and collaborators anywhere. This shift opens the studio to the world.
2019
A new scale of residential work
Star and the team take on the largest residential commission to date: a 14,500 square foot home that tests every dimension of the practice.
2023
Collaboration at scale
Work begins on the studio's most complex brief to date: a multi-unit residential project in collaboration with Charlie Barnett Associates, Fairweather, and STRATA spanning architecture, interior design, and landscape architecture.
2024
Recognition beyond the Bay Area
A full residential interior project is featured on the cover of Hawaii Home Magazine as the studio's first significant recognition beyond its immediate client base. Proof that soulful, timeless work resonates no matter the location.
2026
Star Pierce arrives in South America
A residential kitchen project in Ecuador is Star's first commission in South America - proof that the work travels.
